Further fall in temparature

NEW DELHI DEC. 27. Delhi is expected to witness a further fall in temperature with the weatherman forecasting the minimum temperature in the vicinity of the 5 degrees Celsius mark. Mist or shallow fog has been forecast for the morning. And while the sky will become clearer later, there is a possibility of its becoming partly cloudy towards afternoon or evening.

The maximum and the minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Monday were 20.2 degrees Celsius and 5.7 degrees Celsius respectively, while Palam recorded a maximum of 20.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 4.3 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and the minimum relative humidity at Safdarjung was 79 per cent and 37 per cent respectively. Palam recorded a maximum humidity of 90 per cent, while the minimum humidity was 40 per cent.

Fog hits train services

NEW DELHI DEC. 27. Though there has been no fog in the Capital for the past two days, train services continued to be badly affected on Monday due to fog in other States and operational reasons.

Over 20 trains arriving in the Capital were running behind schedule and nearly the same number of trains had to be rescheduled. As many as three trains had to be cancelled Monday - the 4307 and 4308 Mughalsarai Bareilly Express and the 3111 Lal Quila Express.

The trains that are running hours behind schedule include Lichhavi Express, Avadh Assam Express, Mahananda Express, Kalka Mail, Northeast Express, Saryu Yamuna Express, AP Express, Rewa Express, Kaifiyat Express, Amritsar Express, Sadbhawana Express and Magadh Express.

The trains that rescheduled on Monday were Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani Express, Neelachal Express, Shramjivi Express, Ashram Express, Janata Express, Poorva Express, Sadbhawana Express, Satyagrah Express, AP Express, Jharkhand Express, Magadh Express and Kaifiyat Express.

Robbers nabbed

NEW DELHI DEC. 27. Two of the three youth, who had allegedly robbed a newspaper vendor of his purse containing Rs 850 were chased and nabbed soon after the commission of the offence by a police team in the New Usmanpur area of North East Delhi this morning.

The police said the accused had targeted Harsh Kumar Mishra, a three-wheeler scooter rickshaw driver and newspaper vendor, while he was going on Fateh Singh Marg with his newspaper supply at around 5 a.m. At knife-point, the culprits forced Mishra to part with his purse. However, as they were fleeing, Mishra raised an alarm which caught the attention of a police team nearby.

The police personnel immediately chased the accused and caught two of them -- Imran and Mohammad Shakir, both 19 years old. Their accomplice, identified as Sajid alias Babla, however managed to abscond.
