By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, DEC. 27. A 38-year-old man, who was shot at by robbers after he raised an alarm at Janakpuri in West Delhi on Sunday, succumbed to his injuries today. He had intervened when the robbers snatched a bag from a man in the neighbouring house. According to the police, R.K. Gupta, a resident of B-Block Janakpuri, owns a television shop in the B-Block market. The manager of the shop, Surender, closed the shop for the day and reached Mr. Gupta's house to hand over the keys to the shop around 9-30 p.m.

At the time, only Debashish, Mr. Gupta's servant, was present in the house. Surender handed over the bag to him and left the place. But before Debashish could go inside the house, two persons came from behind and snatched the bag from him.

Debashish raised an alarm which alerted Ganesh Pradhan, a peon in a nearby school, and Anil, Mr. Gupta's neighbour. Ganesh, who had reportedly been entertaining guests on the occasion of his wife's birthday, was chatting with Anil just outside the latter's house. He ran into the lane to stop the two persons from escaping on the motorcycle on which they had come.

However, one of them whipped out a country-made revolver and fired at Ganesh. . He was rushed to ospital where he succumbed to his injuries this morning.
