NEW DELHI, DEC. 27. The Lieutenant-Governor of Delhi, B.L. Joshi, today asked the State Government to promptly respond to the loss of life and property at many places along the Indian coastline by rushing aid to the affected States and Union Territories after ascertaining their needs. Expressing grief over the widespread death and destruction caused by the Tsunami in southern India and many island countries in the Indian Ocean, Mr. Joshi contributed his month's salary to the relief fund to be utilised for the aid to the affected people. He also directed the Delhi Chief Secretary to coordinate with the Union Cabinet Secretary and the Home Secretary in sending medical teams and other supplies to the affected areas. Meanwhile, the Delhi Government has announced an immediate relief of Rs. 2 crores for the affected people and appealed to the government employees to donate a day's salary.
