BANGALORE, DEC. 27. Two earthmovers belonging to Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) contractor were set on fire in Hennur Police Station limits on Sunday night. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), N. Shivakumar, told The Hindu on Monday that the two earthmovers were stationed near Bangalore International School in Geddalahalli. The earthmovers were used for civil work at the Arkavathi Layout that is being formed by the BDA. Around 11.30 p.m. a few people set the two vehicles on fire. The drivers who were asleep at some distance noticed the fire and alerted the police. It is said that each of the two vehicles had 200 litres of fuel in them. Mr. Shivakumar said some people opposed to the formation of the Arkavathi Layout could have set the earthmovers on fire. On a complaint by the contractor, Prabhu, Hennur police have registered a case.
