15 pilgrims from district missing

KOCHI, DEC. 27. Fifteen persons who went on pilgrimage to Velankanni from the district have not returned so far.

All of them were reportedly on the beach near the church when the tragedy struck.

Relatives of Sebastian (David), 42, of Arakkaparambil House living near Thattampady, Edapally, have left for Velankanni, as they have not received any information about Mr. Sebastian and his family members. The body of Seeja, 28, wife of Mr. Sebastian's brother, Felix, is reported to have been recovered.

Among those missing are Mr. Sebastian's wife, Mini, 40, their youngest son, George Kutty, Felix, 38, and his son (Verghesekutty), 6.

Search is on for Baby of Puthiyankat, South Marady, near Muvattupuzha, Sherin, daughter of Shanty, and Sofi and Hajira from the area. Though Omana, wife of autorickshaw driver, A.X. Joseph, from Thevara, returned along with the team with which her family had gone to Velankanni. The fate of her husband and son Edwin, is not known.
