KOCHI, DEC. 27. A team of doctors in the Government service and those working in the private sector have set up camps at many places in the district. There are 27 medical camps in nine panchayats. A round-the-clock cell has also started functioning at the District Medical Office. The medical team is providing information regarding sanitation at the relief camps to avoid outbreak of epidemics. Supply of medicines usually prescribed for fever, flu and cough have been provided at the camps. A meeting held today by the health authorities led by Vimal Raj, Additional Director, Directorate of Health Services, decided to call back all the medical officers and office staff on leave. It was also decided that no leave will be granted till the emergency situation is over.
IMA team
A team of ten doctors in the Crisis Management Cell of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Kochi, led by its president, Ajay Kumar, visited a few camps. They carried out check ups and provided medicines. There were quite a few persons in the camps who required a daily dose of medicines for chronic ailments. The IMA team contributed to providing for these medicines too. They advised the camp managers to improve hygienic conditions by setting up toilets in the camps.
