THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 27 . Drisyavedi, a city-based forum for propagating Kathakali, Koothu and Koodiyattom, will organise the 17th Kerala Natyolsavom at Karthika Tirunal Theatre and Theerthapada Mandapom in the capital from December 28 to January 3. `Kottayathu Thampuran Kathakalimela' will be staged at the festival, which will be inaugurated by the Minister for Cultural Affairs, A.P. Anil Kumar at 6 p.m. on December 28. The inaugural ceremony will be followed by staging of `Bakavadhom purvabhagom.' The `Bakavadhom uttarabhagom' Kathakali will be staged at 6 p.m. on December 29. Neyyattinkara Vasudevan will deliver the Nataraja memorial lecture at 6 p.m. on December 30 at Karthika Tirunal Theatre. The lecture will be followed by the staging of `Kirmeeravadhom purvabhagom' Kathakali. On December 31, the `Krimeeravadhom uttarabhagom' will be presented at 6 p.m. at Theerthapada Mandapom. On January 1, `Cholliyattom' lecture based on Kottayam Kathakal will be presented at 5 p.m. at Theerthapada Mandapom. It will be followed by presentation of `Nipatha Kavachakalakeyavadhom' Kathakali at the same venue. `Cholliyattom' will be presented at 5 p.m. at Theerthapada Mandapom on January 2 and it will be followed by `Kalyanasougandhikam purvabhagom.' On the concluding day, the `Kalyanasougandhikam uttarabhagom' will be presented at Karthika Tirunal Theatre. Over 60 artistes will participate in the festival, according to the secretary of Drisyavedi, S. Sreenivasan.
