Apologise for inconvenience during Datta Jayanti: BJP MLA

By Our Correspondent

CHIKMAGALUR, DEC. 28. V. Sunil Kumar, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA, has demanded that the district administration apologise to the people for the inconvenience caused during the Government-sponsored Datta Jayanti celebrations a Babubudangiri in the district.

Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Kumar said that the Government should disclose the amount spent for security arrangements and other expenditures for the Datta Jayanti celebrations.

He said that his party would raise the Dattatreya Peetha issue in the Assembly. The BJP and the Sangh Parivar will continue the struggle on the issue, he said. Stating that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal will decide on the future course of action, he said the BJP will provide political support to the agitation.

He claimed that the district administration suffered a setback when people failed to respond to the Datta Jayanti and when a "Shobha Yatra" was taken out in spite of heavy security arrangements.

He criticised the district administration for submitting a "false report" to the Government that law and order problems would be created if the "Shobha Yatra" was allowed.
