Four share lead

TUTICORIN, DEC. 28. Four players shared the lead with 4.5 points in the open category, after the completion of fifth round in the eighth State-level Open chess tournament here today.

Top seed Preetham Sharma signed truce with Natarajan (Integral Coach Factory) in six moves.In the second board, A. Sankar forced a draw against B. T. Murlaikrishnan in 60 moves.

Important results: (fifth round): Open: C. Natarajan (4.5) drew with Preetham Sharma (4.5); Muralikrishnan (4.5) drew with Sankar (4.5); V. Ravichandran (3.5) lost to R. Pounraj (4).

Under-17: Arokayaraj (3) lost to Vishnupriya (4); Aravindhan (3.5) bt Jawahar (3); Under-13: Saravana Ganesh Pandian (3.5) drew with Bharath (3.5); Srinath (3) lost to Nandhini (4); Under-11: Navin Bhaskaran (3) lost to Amish Kushal (4); Ramasubramaniyan (3.5) bt Nagul (3).
