Thrilling win for SIT

DINDIGUL, DEC. 28. Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariapatti caused an upset by defeating Sports Hostel of Excellence, Chennai 71-70 in a thrilling encounter and entered the quarterfinals of the 11th annual G. Sundararajan Mani Vizha Trophy State-level basketball tournament at St. Mary's Higher Secondary School ground here on Tuesday.

Loyola Basketball Club, Chennai also entered the quarterfinals defeating Prince Basketball Club, Tiruchi 86-46.

The results (pre-quarterfinals): Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariapatti 71 (Joe 20, Senthil 18) bt Sports Hostel of Excellence, Chennai 70 (Raghu 24, Vinod 16); Loyola BC, Chennai 86 (Navaneethan 26, Krishna Gandhi 18) bt Prince BC, Tiruchi 46 (Sridhar 16, Ragupathy 10). Port Trust, Tuticorin 57 (Selvakumar 15) bt Chellam BC, Madurai 43 (Suresh 17); Armed Police, Chennai 69 (Barathi 17) bt Breeze BC, Dindigul 63 (Vijayakumar 21); Hindustan BC, Chennai 70 (Periasamy 17, Siva 13) bt Sports Hostel, Madurai 47 (Raghu 18).
