PUDUKOTTAI, DEC.28. Special teams comprising officials from various departments in the district have left for Nagapattinam. A total of 15 teams, each comprising six members, left Pudukottai today for Nagapattinam to carry out relief works. The district administration has sent a team of 10 doctors, nurses, sanitary workers, three ambulances and medicines to Nagapattinam. The authorities have sent two earthmovers and four barrels of diesel along with the special teams, which was sent based on a request from the Nagapattinam authorities, a press release issued here today said. Meanwhile, enumeration of damaged boats and fishing nets began in the district today. Sources said around 70 policemen were deployed in the coastal areas of Kottaipattinam, Manamelgudi and Mimisal as a precautionary measure to act in times of emergency.
