Good spells by Jalaj Saxena, Monish Parmar

CHENNAI, DEC. 28. Jalaj Saxena took seven wickets for 36 runs as Madhya Pradesh dismissed Tripura for 134 runs on the first day of the three day under-19 Cooch Behar match at the IIT-Chemplast ground on Monday. In reply, M.P. finished on 161 for three.

At Guru Nanak, Hyderabad finished the day on 249 for six after electing to bat. D.B. Ravi Teja scored an unbeaten 133.

At Visakhapatnam, an unbroken partnership of 81 runs for the seventh wicket between Akash Chauhan (52, 6x1, 4x6) and Harpreeth Saini (35) helped Railways reach 219 for six against Saurashtra at close on the first day oftheir heir Plate Group B match here on Tuesday. Earlier Jitender Bhagel scored a fine half-century (54, 6x1, 4x6).In the other match, Punjab is well placed against Sikkim, having gained a 61-run lead with eight wickets in hand. Vipin Kumar (87, 4x16) and Uday Kaul (37, 4x4) were going strong in their unbroken stand of 104 runs for the third wicket. Earlier in the day, medium pacer Harvinder Singh claimed five wickets and off-spinner Ankur Jund, three wickets for Punjab. At Bangalore, off-spinner Mohnish Parmar bagged five wickets and helped Gujarat bowl out Jammu and Kashmir for 141 in their Plate Group `B' match that commenced at the RSI Ground here on Tuesday. At close, Gujarat scored 133 for five in 40 overs with skipper Azhar Balakhia remaining unbeaten on 63.

Sikkim 107 in 47.5 overs (Harvinder Singh five for 40) vs Punjab 168 for two in 40 overs (Vipin Kumar 87 batting).

At Mumbai: Maharashtra 296 (Rohit Kakade 105, Mansingh Nigade 67, Raviraj Patil 68, Mandeep Singh four for 72) vs Haryana 37 for no loss. Karnataka 270 (C.M. Goutham 44, Ganesh Satish 105, Harish Gautam four for 81) v Delhi. At Bangalore: Jammu and Kashmir 141 in 50.2 overs (Mohnish Parmar five for 33) vs Gujarat 133 for five in 40 overs (Azhar Balakhia 63 n.o.). Jharkhand 165 in 65 overs (Anupam Kumar 52, S.K. Naushad six for 30) vs Andhra 69 for three in 19.1 overs.
