NEW DELHI, DEC. 28. Around 60 foreign players, including Grandmasters Saidali Iuldashev of Uzbekistan and Alexander Fominykh of Russia, are expected to participate in the third Parsvnath international open chess tournament to be held at the Bapu Samaj Sewa Kendra here from January 3 to 11. The Indian challenge would be led by GM K. Sasikiran while GM Dibyendu Barua was also expected to figure in the competition, according to Sunit Sachar, Vice President Marketing, Parsvnath Developers. A total prize money of Rs. 6 lakhs would be at stake, Mr. Sachar told a press conference here on Tuesday. The winner would carry home Rs 1.5 lakhs. As many as 200 players had already confirmed their participation in the tournament and it was expected that the figure would reach the 300-mark. Players from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Malaysia, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal are expected to compete.
