New flyover opened

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, DEC. 28. The Delhi Development Authority today threw open for traffic a flyover constructed by it at the intersection of G.T. Road and Road No. 66 in Seelampur area of North East Delhi.

A press release issued by DDA said this is the 11th flyover to have been constructed by the authority and thrown open for the traffic. Noting that this flyover has been constructed at an extremely busy intersection in East Delhi with traffic intensity of around 10,000 passenger car units per hour during the peak hours, it said the main flyover is 672 metres long and 10 metres wide.

Built at a cost of Rs 24.49 crores, which includes the cost of the construction of a single carriageway flyover, widening of bridge on both sides over trunk drain No. 1, and creation of a cycle-cum-pedestrian subway, DDA said the flyover will facilitate free flow of traffic coming from ISBT, Old Yamuna Bridge, Geeta Colony and going towards Shahdara or Ghaziabad.

Flyover will also greatly benefit the residents of trans-Yamuna areas as it has come up at one of the most congested intersections of North East Delhi, DDA said.
