CHENNAI, DEC. 28. With a new law regulating immigration coming into force from January 1, 2005, the Consulate-General of the Federal Republic of Germany has announced changes in the European Union visa fee structure.

According to an official release, the processing of all Schengen visa applications will cost a flat rate of euro 35 irrespective of the duration of validity. Minors will have to pay half the fee. Cash payments will not be accepted from January 1, 2005 and all fees have to be settled by Demand Draft through the following banks: State Bank of India, Indian Bank, Canara Bank, ICICI Bank and ABN-AMRO Bank.

However, the release said the office hours for submission of visa application remained unchanged — Monday to Friday between 8.30 a.m. and 10 a.m.
