VELLORE, DEC. 28. K.S. Dinakaran, counsel to the Kanchi Acharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, called on the Acharya inside the central prison here on Tuesday. Describing the meeting a courtesy call, Mr. Dinakaran told newspersons that he informed the Acharya about the bail petition, which is coming up for further hearing in the Supreme Court on January 6. "I do everything after praying to God. I cannot say what will happen. We are persevering with all our attempts," he said when asked whether he believed that the Acharya would get bail in the Supreme Court. "He is being very well taken care of in the jail. Neither I nor the Sankaracharya have any grievance about the treatment given to him in the prison," he replied to a query. Mr. Dinakaran parried a question on whether the defence case was proceeding on right lines. Mr. Dinakaran said the Acharya was very much worried over the havoc wrought by the Tsunami in different parts of the country. He told him that he would have been able to serve the affected people through the Sankara Mutt had he been out of the jail. The Acharya expressed his regret over not being able to do any service to the affected people. "Neither I asked him nor did he say anything about it," he said when asked whether the Acharya was planning to provide any assistance to the Tsunami-hit people on behalf of the Kanchi Mutt.
