Horatti takes exception to official's remarks

By Our Special Correspondent

HUBLI, DEC. 28. The Minister for Small Savings and Science and Technology, Basavaraj Horatti, today took strong exception to the reported remarks of the Chairperson of the State-owned KEONICS, Manjula, about the unsatisfactory progress made by the Software Technology Park in Hubli.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr Horatti said that he would take up the matter with the Chief Minister for action against the official for her remarks against a Cabinet Minister.

It may be mentioned here that Ms. Manjula, during her maiden visit to Hubli recently, questioned the authority of the Minister in talking about the STP, which came under the Department of Information Technology and Biotechnology and not under Science and Technology, which is held by Mr. Horatti.

Mr. Horatti defended his right as the elected representative representing the area to talk about STP which is not able to get off the board despite all the expenditure incurred.and how the inability on the part of the KEONICS in making full payment towards the purchase of the complex from the Hubli Dharwad Municipal Corporation has been posing a legal problem in selling space to entrepreneurs in the STP.
