PATHANAMTHITTA, DEC. 28. K. Ananthagopan was unanimously elected district secretary of the CPI(M) for a second term at the party's district meet that concluded in Kozhencherry this evening. Mr. Ananthagopan, a staunch supporter of the Leader of the Opposition, V.S. Achuthanandan, has the support of the rival factions, the CPI(M) sources said. The Achuthanandan faction bagged 23 of the 32 seats in the elections held to the party district committee today. The former MLA, A. Padmakumar, the former DYFI district leaders, K. Prakashbabu and R. Shaji Mohan, P.G. Chacko, and Susamma Chacko were the party's district leaders who were defeated in the elections to the party district committee today.
