By Our Staff Reporter

KOZHIKODE, DEC.28. The sixth witness in the Marad massacre case, Devarajan, was examined by the Marad Special Court here today.

Devarajan, a resident of Marad, who deposed before the judge, Babu Mathew P. Joseph, identified four of the accused.

The court will examine the eighth witness in the case on December 29.

In its proceedings on December 27, the judge had expressed reservations against the Public Prosecutor, police and the defence counsel for not providing an opportunity to two of the accused to see their ailing mother as had been directed by the court.

The jail superintendent had not complied with the directive of the court on the premise that it had not been possible to procure police protection for the accused.

The examination of a key witness in the case Subramanian was completed by the court on December 27.

Subramanian, who is a blacksmith, identified the 44 knives produced in court by the prosecution.
