CHENNAI, DEC. 28. The chairperson of the Madras Institute of Development Studies (MIDS), M. Ananthakrishnan, has urged students to develop an integrated way thinking to improve their scientific knowledge. Inaugurating the Science Camp for 2004, organised by the Science City here this morning, Dr. Ananthakrishnan said students should not confine themselves to any particular discipline. As disciplines were interlinked, students must make use of opportunities to improve their knowledge in all disciplines. To have an integrated approach, they could form clubs or academy networks to exchange information, he said. The students should frequently interact with one another. Dr. Ananthakrishnan said the present-day youth had many avenues to update their knowledge. Earlier, the Science City vice-chairman, A. M. Raman, said the purpose of the camp was to encourage school students to take up a career in science and to keep them abreast of the latest developments.
