Godavari waters for VSP soon

VISAKHAPATNAM, DEC. 28. The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant will receive the Godavari waters in a week, the Minister for Commercial Taxes, Konathala Ramakrishna, said here on Tuesday.

The pumping of the Godavari water into the diversion scheme near Rajahmundry had commenced on December 25 and would reach the VSP in a week. This would also solve the drinking water problem of the city, he told reporters.

While steps were being taken to improve the facilities at the King George Hospital with an expenditure of Rs.10 crores to Rs.15 crores, a site would be selected for the proposed super specialities hospital in the city.

10-cr. project

The Municipal Corporation would provide Rs.10 crores for the super specialities hospital. Other agencies and organisations would also extend their help. Global tenders would be called for construction of the hospital.

A Rs.10-crore project had been sanctioned for Bheemunipatnam to remove the drinking water problem being faced by the municipality, Mr. Ramakrishna said. Girls schools were sanctioned at Padmanabham, Munchingput, Hukumpeta,Devarapalli and Rolugunta. The schools would help to improve the percentage of education among the girls in these area, which was low. The schools would have sixth to ninth standards to start with, he added.
