HYDERABAD, DEC. 28. An advocate, Srihari, was among four persons arrested by the Uppal police on the charge of fraudulently withdrawing Rs. 33.75 lakhs from the Union Bank of India (UBI)'s Chikkadpally branch on Monday. The other arrested were -- Vijaya Babu, his brother, Srinvasa Rao, both realtors and Rama Rao, a `C' grade scientist of DMRL, the Cyberabad police said in a press release on Tuesday. Nine other accused are yet to be arrested. According to the police, both the brothers and two others accused -- Shiva Prasad and Madhu Sudhan Rao - agreed to sell the apartments of Naga Ramesh Naidu. They paid him a token advance of Rs. 2.5 lakh this February and took copies of the documents relating to the building comprising six flats. Later, they allegedly obtained salary slips, identity cards and Income Tax return documents from five defence employees by paying Rs. 50,000 to each of them. The accused created forged documents suggesting that Ramesh Naidu had sold the flats to the defence employees and obtained a laon of Rs. 33.75 lakh (Rs. 5.75 lakh loan on each employee) from the UBI's Chikkadpally branch.
