HYDERABAD, DEC. 28. The Singareni Coal Mines Officers' Association has decided to contribute Rs. 20 lakhs to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to help victims of the tidal wave in Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Churches gesture
The Andhra Pradesh Council of Churches has also come forward to help affected people. The Churches Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA) - the official relief agency of churches - is targeting 50,000 people. The Andhra Pradesh unit of Indian Medical Association has directed all its branches to offer free medical services for relief of victims and provide free medicare to the needy.
Water supplied
Coca-Cola India has pressed into action more than 50 company vehicles and distributed 4,600 cases of Kinley water (drinking) and 20,000 food packets in the affected areas in the State. .
CII, Food World join hands
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has tied up with Food World chain of supermarkets in the twin cities and surrounding areas to collect material like clothes and utensils for distributing them among the affected. Further details can be had on 55641431.
Day's salary donated
Members of the Osmania University Teachers' Association, decided to contribute a day's salary to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund towards rehabilitation of tsunami victims.
UNICEF aid
The UNICEF rushed aid to people in three districts of the State, including the worst hit Prakasam where 800 fishermen have been reported missing. The Telugu Association of North America (TANA) has offered to donate Rs.10 lakhs to the CM's Relief Fund.
