Medicon Update on Sunday

BANGALORE, DEC. 28. The Manipal Hospital will host Medicon Update 2005, an Indo-American health summit, on January 2. This is a joint programme of the American Association of the Physicians of Indian Origin and the hospital.

Over 60 delegates from the association are expected to participate in the seminar, which will be held on the premises of the hospital.

The conference will focus on developments in the medical field in 2004. Fifteen speakers from the U.S. and India will deliver talk on emerging areas of interest in the medical profession.

The programme will be divided into five sessions on topics such as general medicine, paediatrics, diabetes and nephrology, cardiology and surgery.

The team from the association will be led by Sampath Shivangi, vice-president of the organisation.

Dr. Shivangi is advisor to the White House on healthcare policy issues.

The aim of the conference is to create a platform for dialogue and exchange of new techniques and advancements in medicine that will help the Indian population.

Prevalence of metabolic syndrome, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, neonatal diseases, autism spectrum disorders, latest managements techniques for diabetes, emergency medical services and surgical procedures will be discussed.
