Foggy morning forecast

NEW DELHI DEC. 28. A foggy morning but a clear sky in the afternoon is the weather department's forecast for Wednesday. The minimum temperature is likely to be around 5 degree Celsius.

The maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung and Palam on Tuesday was 21.0 and 22.6 degree Celsius, while the minimum was 5.1 and 7.2 degree Celsius respectively. While the maximum humidity recorded in both places was 94 per cent, the minimum was 45 per cent in Safdarjung and 36 per cent in Palam.

Kidnapped boy rescued

NEW DELHI DEC. 28. A six-year-old boy, who had been kidnapped from Geeta Colony in East Delhi on December 15, has been rescued by the East Delhi police. None of the kidnappers have been arrested.

According to the police, Sharda, wife of Nahar Singh, a resident of Geeta Colony, had lodged a complaint with the police that her six-year-old son had gone missing from outside the house.

A case of kidnapping was registered at Geeta Colony police station.

Inquiries revealed that the accused, whose identities have not been revealed by the police, had left for Samastipur in Bihar. A team was sent to Samastipur and after a few raids the kidnappers abandoned the child at Rampur Bishan Village in Samastipur.

The child was brought to the local police station there. Subsequently, he was brought to the Capital and reunited with his parents.

The police claimed that the kidnappers released the child due to police pressure. They said the exact motive behind the kidnapping would be ascertained only after the accused were arrested. Efforts are on to trace them.

Man ends life

NEW DELHI DEC. 28. A 64-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by setting himself afire in his house at Hari Nagar in West Delhi today. He was apparently suffering from depression for the past several years.

According to the police, Madan Lal, a retired government servant, poured kerosene on himself this morning and set himself ablaze. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

He had sustained nearly 100 per cent burn injuries. No suicide note has been recovered from the spot.

Preliminary investigations revealed that he was suffering from depression for the past 14 years and had been undergoing treatment for the same. However, there was apparently no improvement in his condition.

A case has been registered at Hari Nagar police station and further investigations are on.
