Hunt on for triple murder suspect

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, DEC. 28. Even as some confusion prevailed over the exact identity of the prime suspect in the triple murder in which three members of a family were brutally killed in Mukherjee Nagar on Monday, the North-West Delhi police have sent teams to Orissa to try and trace him out.

The police said teams were sent to Orissa after inquiries indicated that the suspect was from that State. A senior police official said they were not yet sure about the identity of the prime suspect as some said his was Ravinder Nair while other sources gave his name as Rajender. On Monday, the police had said the suspect was from Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, the police are yet to assess the exact amount of cash and jewellery which has gone missing from the house. The suspect had broken the almirahs and the cupboards after killing the three family members -- B.L. Dhawan, who was suffering from paralysis, his daughter, Reeta Sharma, and his son-in-law, Sudarshan K. Sharma -- and had ransacked the entire house. The police said it was difficult for them to ascertain as there was nobody left in the house to provide the information.

The only member of the family who remained unharmed was 13-year-old Pulkit, son of Mr. Sharma, who was at his aunt's house in Paschim Vihar on account of Christmas holidays.

Investigations have also revealed that Sharmas had employed a couple of part-time domestic helps at one time or other. However, about four months ago, when Mr. Dhawan decided to came to live with his daughter, they employed a full-time caretaker a couple of months ago. Prior to that, he used to live with his younger daughter at Paschim Vihar.

According to the police, the employers had not got the caretaker verified by the police even though verification forms had been given to them. Further investigations in the case are on.
