Woman, aide held for abduction-cum-murder

py Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, DEC. 28. A woman and her accomplice who allegedly kidnapped a 35-year-old businessman from Delhi and murdered him in Uttar Pradesh this October have been arrested in Ghaziabad near here by the East Delhi police. The woman is allegedly involved in two other murder cases.

On October 24, the Preet Vihar police received a complaint from Purushottam Das Dhawan, alleging that his son, Anmol, had gone missing. He had gone somewhere in his Santro car after which he did not return home.

While the police were trying to trace him, Anmol's body was found dumped in his vehicle at Gautam Budh Nagar in Ghaziabad after three days. After his relatives identified his body, they informed the police that Rs. 15,000, a wristwatch and a mobile phone were missing from Anmol's possession. Trailing the mobile phone, the police came to know that Munesh Choudhary and Manoj Sharma, who were living in Ghaziabad, were using it. Subsequently, the police mounted a raid there and arrested the duo. The deceased's wristwatch, his car's keys and the money were recovered from them.

During interrogation, Munesh, who was earlier married to one Ashok, disclosed that on October 24, she took a lift in Anmol's car and took him to her hideout on some pretext. Munesh and Manoj threatened Anmol with dire consequences and asked him to hand over the valuables he had. However, he offered resistance upon which the accused bludgeoned him to death with a hockey stick and fled with the money and other articles.

At their instance, the police have also recovered the bloodstained hockey stick.

Munesh disclosed that in 1996, she left her husband and got married to a criminal, Lokesh Bhardwaj aka Dimple Tyagi. The police said Lokesh is presently lodged in Meerut Jail in connection with the murder of a bakery owner, Rajesh Choudhary. Munesh was also wanted in that case. She was earlier arrested in 1996 for her alleged involvement in another murder case reported from Brahmpuri in Meerut.

The other accused, Manoj, worked with Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited and was placed under suspension on charges of embezzlement. He later joined the Dimple Tyagi gang.
