Seminar inaugurated

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 28. A national seminar `Aryabhateeya 2004' on habitat problems on land, water and space was inaugurated by the former director of RRL Vijay Nair at the Institution of Engineers hall in the city today. Ananda Bose, K.I. Vasu, N. Rajkumar and P.N. Subrahmanian spoke on the occasion.

Students Abishek Agarwal, Pareekshith Sharma and G. Prasanna who won a design competition conducted by NASA, engineers from Space Centre, Science and Technology, experts on `Vasthu Sasthra' and many others from various scientific fields presented papers at the seminar. Ph.D awardees in various fields were honoured at the valedictory function of the seminar.

Camp held

Seminars, discussions, personality and leadership development programmes and a social and economic survey are some of the attractions at 10-day camp currently under way at the Shakaramugham Lower Primary School in Aruvikkara Grama Panchayat.

The aim of the camp is to create a better society by fostering a spirit of social awareness, friendship and togetherness through the medium of education.

Around 100 students including 30 girls are attending the camp organised by National Service Scheme units of Central Polytechnic College. The camp was inaugurated by Mankode Radhakrishnan, MLA, on December 24. Panchayat president R. Kala presided over the function. Leading social activists and bureaucrats are attending the camp. An organising committee consisting of 101 members and an executive committee consisting of 21 representatives have also been constituted for the success of the camp. The camp will conclude on January 2, 2005.

Course launched

C-DAC, have announced the launch of advanced courses in cyber forensics from January 2005. The courses include a one-year full time postgraduate diploma programme in cyber forensics and a concurrent six months certificate course. The course will cover all aspects of cyber forensics from computer fundamentals to cyber laws, networks, encryption technology, stenography, computer forensics, network forensics and practicals.

The C-DAC's courses will be handled by experts who have conducted training programmes for law enforcement agencies all over the country.

The course is targeted towards lawyers, forensic scientists, forensic graduates, police officers and people interested in working as cyber forensic consultants for corporate houses. For details contact the programme manager ph: 2726531/2726586.

Rotary festival

The annual Rotary Youth Festival organised by the Thiruvananthapuram North Rotary clubs will be held at the Panchayat Association hall on January 6, 7 and 8. For details contact Madhava Kaimal, president at: 2312126 or Gopakumar, secretary, at: 2451262.
