KRISHNAGIRI, DEC. 29. The Collector, Mangat Ram Sharma, opened an information centre at the Collectorate here today. He said that the public could contact 04343/ 239600 to get information about their friends and relatives in the tsunami-hit coastal districts. They could also obtain information about those who had gone to the affected areas from Krishnagiri, he said. The Collector requested the public to contribute generously towards the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund. He said that goods and food materials would be forwarded to the Superintendent, Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation, Krishnagiri. On behalf of the Collectorate staff, the Collector donated Rs. 1 lakh. In addition the entire Collectorate staff have decided to give a day's salary to the affected persons. The Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School, Uthangarai, donated Rs. 2 lakhs. One lorry load of food materials was despatched from the school today.
