NEW DELHI, DEC. 29. The economic think-tank National Council for Applied Economic Research (NCAER) today pegged GDP growth at 6.5 per cent in this fiscal, which would accelerate to 7.4 per cent in 2005-06 if the Government carried out far-reaching reforms. "Growth in 2004-05 is expected to be around 6.5 per cent and expected to increase to around 7.4 per cent next fiscal. India perhaps would be the only country in the world that would grow faster, while growth elsewhere slows down,'' the NCAER said in its report `Macrotrack.' Most important, the contribution of the manufacturing sector in the overall growth is on the rise and the sector is expected to grow by 8 per cent next fiscal, it said.
