KOLLAM, DEC. 29. The CPI(M) district committee has decided to set up a relief fund and collect Rs. 1 crore for the rehabilitation of fishermen in the coastal areas devastated by the seismic waves. The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by the Kollam MP, P. Rajendran, and attended by the central committee member of the party, P.K. Gurudasan. The party described the Alappad tragedy as the biggest disaster in the history of the district. The party will constitute a fund of Rs. 1 crore with public support for rehabilitating the affected persons. Party workers would hold the collection drive on January 1 and 2.
