By Our Staff Correspondent
BHOPAL, DEC. 29. The former Madhya Pradesh Minister, Sunil Nayak, said today that he had been dropped from the Babulal Gaur Ministry two days ago because he had expressed faith in the leadership of the former Chief Minister Uma Bharti. Talking to The Hindu , Mr. Nayak said he is yet to receive a formal communication about his removal from the State Council of Ministers. Still, acting on the basis of some television channels announcing Chief Minister Babulal Gaur's decision to remove him on December 27, he had promptly relinquished office and even returned the official car, said Mr. Nayak. Mr. Nayak's assertion notwithstanding, the State Government had issued a communiqué on Monday itself, which said: "The Minister of State for Animal Husbandry (Independent Charge), Sunil Nayak, has been removed from the State Council of Ministers today. The Governor, Dr. Balram Jakhar, has accepted the recommendation of the Chief Minister, Babulal Gaur, in this regard." Mr. Nayak said the decision to remove him was politically incorrect as it would harm the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's interests in the Panchayat elections. This decision goes against the spirit of party unity and would demoralise a large section of party workers, he added. Mr. Nayak said he had only praised and expressed his loyalty towards Ms. Bharti. He feels that he has been wrongly punished on this count. Speaking to this correspondent over telephone from Tikamgarh, the former Minister said he would be in Delhi tomorrow to meet Ms. Bharti. "What to talk of a ministerial berth, I am prepared to sacrifice anything for the sake of my leader."
