THRISSUR, DEC. 29. The vice-chairman of the UDF-ruled Kunnamkulam municipality, E.P. Kamaruddin, of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) was today voted out through a no-confidence motion moved by the Opposition CPI(M). According to reports, four members of the `I' group and a BJP member voted in favour of the motion. Even though another BJP member had voted in favour of the motion, it was declared invalid as he had not written his name on the voting paper. In all, 19 members of the 31-member council participated in the voting on the no-confidence motion today and out of them 18 votes (barring that of the lone BJP member whose vote was declared invalid) were declared in favour of the motion.
