Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, DEC. 29. The Pondicherry Central University at Kalapet on the East Coast Road here has come to the rescue of tsunami-hit villagers of the coastal pockets, providing accommodation to them. A large number of displaced men, women and children were accommodated in the academic block. People staying on pavements on the university premises were allowed to wash clothes, bathe and take food. Medical teams visited them for routine health check-up. The entire stretch from the Old Gate (first entrance) on the main road is dotted with villagers feeding tiny tots and some sleeping in the open at night braving the chill weather.
