HYDERABAD, DEC. 29. The Minister for Agriculture, N. Raghuveera Reddy, has said the stage is set for the Government to supply 10.91 lakh quintals of certified, quality seed in the next kharif season, with a seed replacement ratio (SRR) of 27.31 per cent. At a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Raghuveera said in kharif 2004, 8.76 lakh quintals, with 22.22 per cent SRR had been made available. The increase in quantity apart, the Government had decided that all seed made available would only be of certified quality unlike in the past, when contingency procurement was done and seed lifted from private godowns too. The increase in quantum availability would be possible mainly due to higher production, thanks to the "Seed Village" concept, the Minister said.
