Parliamentary panels advised not to visit affected areas

By Our Staff Correspondent

NEW DELHI, DEC. 29. The Lok Sabha Speaker, Somnath Chatterjee, has asked Parliamentary Committees to avoid study visits to tsunami-affected States to prevent hampering of relief operations there.

Meanwhile, the three-member fact finding committee of the Press Council of India which was to visit Kerala next month, has cancelled its tour in view of the devastation caused in South India. The committee was to investigate the incidents of violence against media persons and media establishments. The committee will soon announce its new schedule.
