KOZHIKODE, DEC. 29. The Indian Federal Democratic Party (IFDP) president, P.C. Thomas, MP, has criticised the Centre for the undue haste with which it has promulgated an ordinance on December 26, with regard to the Indian Patents Bill third amendment. Mr. Thomas told mediapersons here today that the proposed ordinance, which would come into effect on January 1, would spiral the prices of medicines. The impact of the ordinance would also be felt in the software sector. It would only benefit multinational companies and create hardship for the general public, he alleged. The IFDP would organise a protest meeting in New Delhi on January 12. Protest meetings would also be held at Kozhikode, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
