NEW DELHI, DEC. 29. The Congress today sought to downplay the Kerala Industries Minister, P.K. Kunhalikutty's offer to resign from the Oommen Chandy Government in the wake of a sex scandal saying it was "his personal decision." "I cannot question the decision of the Minister to resign following allegations. It is his decision. Besides, I cannot go beyond what the State Chief Minister has said in this matter," the party spokesman, Anand Sharma, told reporters. Mr. Chandy had last week told reporters here that Mr. Kunhalikutty would not be removed till he was found guilty and recalled that a case was instituted against him seven years ago when the Left Front was in power. Till date not even a charge-sheet has been filed against him, he had stated. Asked to comment on the allegations, Mr. Sharma quipped: "allegations or accusations should not be used to pre-judge an individual of social or political standing. We have to be a bit careful...only on the basis of accusations we must not allow a situation of trial before the actual trial begins." - PTI
