MA Trophy becomes south-Indian affair
ALUVA,
DEC. 29.
The Mar Athanasious Trophy inter-school football tournament, which was an all-Kerala event till last year, has been made a South India affair this time.
The tournament, organised by the Mar Athanasious Service Society and ex-footballers of Aluva, begins at the Municipal Stadium here on January 9. Eleven teams from Kerala and three from other Southern States will figure in the tournament.
Prior to the main event, a mini tournament for local schools would be conducted with the winner being included in the main draw, said a release from the tournament convener, M.M. Jacob, a former international.
Olympian K.M. Beenamol will inaugurate the tournament and the Sports Minister, Dominic Presentation, will distribute the prizes on January 21, the concluding day.
