Thiruvananthapuram in last four
KOCHI,
DEC. 29.
Solid spiking by M.B. Sibi, Laloo John and Jobish helped Thiruvananthapuram down Idukki 25-20, 25-16, 24-26, 25-16 and entered the semifinals of the State senior volleyball championship at the Pappan Stadium, Varappuzha, on Wednesday.
Thiruvananthapuram with five KSEB stars and two Titanium players in the side, raised to a two-set lead but Idukki fought superbly in the third through smart blocking and spiking from A.A. Joseph and its Customs star Yusuf Ali.
Thiruvananthapuram was under pressure in the next set two but it hung on to win the 50-minute match. The match was scheduled for 5.30 p.m. but began only after 7.00 p.m.
