Balaraman wins title

KOZHIKODE, DEC. 29. P. Balaraman of Thiruvananthapuram won the State senior chess championship for the blind here on Wednesday. He scored five points from six rounds, the same as Thomas Michael of Kottayam and K. Rajan of Kasaragod, who finished second and third on progressive scores.

The junior title was won by M. Shidad of Kozhikode, ahead of Abdurahiman and Remith, both of Kannur. They scored three points each from four rounds, but Shidad was declared the champion on tie-break.
