ANANTAPUR, DEC. 29 . Faced with the possibility of not meeting the targets given to the district for the current year, the Housing Department has shouldered the responsibility of getting letters of sanction allotted to the legislators by following them, if necessary. Against the target of 24,070 houses allotted to the district under all housing programmes for 2004-05, the achievement in this direction has been 11,840 houses which is less than half the set target. According to officials, the legislators of Penukonda and Gorantla constituencies are yet to sanction their quota of houses of 500 each under the Rural Poor Housing Scheme (RPHS). A total of 15,780 houses have been allotted to the district under RPHS for the year and 7,168 of them have been completed so far.
Sanction letters
While the legislator of Gorantla, P. Ravindra Reddy, is stated to be on foreign tour, the Penukonda legislator, P. Ravindra, is yet to identify his beneficiaries.
