CHENNAI, DEC. 29. A three-member gang waylaid a pawn broker and forcibly took away 15 sovereigns of jewellery and Rs 25,000 in cash at Ponneri on Monday night. Police said around 8 p.m., Krishanlal Upadhyay, was returning to home from Andarkuppam in a two-wheeler. His friend Devaraj was on the pillion. On the way, the three persons also travelling on a two-wheeler, forcibly stopped Mr. Upadhyay and his friend and ordered them to get down from the vehicle. Police said the gangsters allegedly attacked them, removed the valuables and escaped. A case has been registered.
