Insurance employees donate one-day salary

CHENNAI, DEC. 29. The State unit of the All India Insurance Employees Association (AIIEA) has asked its members to donate their one-day salary for the tsunami victims. According to the AIIEA general secretary, R.D. Dharanipathy, Rs. 5.95 lakhs has been collected by various divisional units of the association, with the Salem division contributing Rs. 1.1 lakh and Tirunelveli Rs. 1 lakh. Madurai and Coimbatore divisions have collected Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 70,000 while Thanjavur, Chennai I and Madurai and Coimbatore region GIEA have collected Rs. 50,000 each. The Chennai II unit has collected Rs. 30,000.
