THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 29. Relief operations in the coastal areas stricken by the tsunami continued on Wednesday with assistance pouring in from various quarters. Helpage India has announced a financial aid package of Rs.12.5 lakhs for 500 affected families in Karunagapally. The Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum contributed Rs. 1 lakh for the tsunami victims in the Kottar diocese. The Federation of Residents Associations, Thiruvananthapuram, joined hands with the Indian Medical Association to provide medicines and clothing to the victims housed in relief camps at Karunagapally. The All India Federation of Central Excise Gazetted Executive Officers, Kerala, has decided to contribute one day's salary to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund. The Trivandrum Club has donated Rs. 1 lakh to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund. The Association of Kerala Medical Graduates, a body of doctors of Kerala origin working in the United States, has donated Rs. 5 lakhs to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to help the tsunami victims in the State. A cheque for the amount was handed over to the Chief Minister at the ongoing Indo-American Continuing Medical Education convention here. The All Kerala Photographers' Association decided to donate Rs. 1 lakh to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The NCC contributed Rs. 1 lakh to the Chief Minster's Relief Fund. Handing over the cheque to the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, the NCC Deputy Inspector General, Brigadier N.P.R. Pillai, offered the services of cadets for relief work in the affected areas.
