RAICHUR, DEC. 30. The State Government has ordered a departmental inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of funds and diversion of foodgrains under the food-for-work scheme at the Yermarus Irrigation Division near here in the past two years. It is expected that a team from the Department of Water Resources will arrive here on January 6 to conduct an inspection of the division. The Accountant General, Bangalore, had despatched a two-member special squad to the Yermarus division to inspect accounts and verify records pertaining to the food-for-work scheme after a team of officials from the State Accounts Department discovered the alleged mismanagement.
Records not produced
The special squad, headed by Narasimhamurthy, conducted an inspection at the Yermarus division for five days from December 20. In its preliminary inspection, the team found that the division had not produced the records and documents pertaining to the implementation of the food-for-work scheme in the past two years.
