AHMEDABAD, DEC. 30. Gottipati Krishna (Andhra Pradesh), Sahaj Grover (Delhi) and Vioani Antonio (Karnataka) are tied at 8.5 points each after the penultimate round of the under-9 boys' National chess championship here on Thursday. Close behind them are Megh Patel, Fenil Shah (both from Gujarat), Mehar Chinnareddy (AP) and Shubham Lakudkar (Maharashtra) with 8 points each. In the girls' section, though K. Sai Nirupama has shot into lead with 8.5 points after defeating S. Sindhuja (7) of Tamil Nadu, the championship remains open as top seed Tejaswini Reddy and fourth seed A.R. Priya (both from AP), are closely following the leader with 8 points each. The third spot is being held by J. Saranya (TN) with 7.5 points.
Boys: Mehar Chinnareddy (AP -8) drew with Gottipati Krishna (AP -8.5), Sahaj Grover (Del - 8.5) drew with Megh Patel (Guj - 8), Vioani Antonio (Kar- 8.5) bt Utkal Sahoo (Ori -7), Y. V. K. Chakravarthy (AP - 7) lost to Fenil Shah (Guj - 8), Sravankumar Dasika (AP - 7) lost to Shubham Lakudkar (Mah - 8), A. Vishwanath Prasad (AP - 6.5) lost to S.K. Abdul Azeez (AP - 7.5), Anurag Mhamal (Goa - 6.5) lost to L. Mahindra Venkat (AP -7.5), Prantik Roy (Ben -7.5) bt K. Murali Krishna (AP - 6.5), V. Rajesh (AP - 6.5) drew with Samrat Ghorai (ACC - 7).
Girls: A.R. Priya (AP - 8) drew with Tejaswini Reddy (AP - 8), K. Sai Nirupama (AP - 8.5) beat S. Sindhuja (TN - 7), K. Vyshali (AP - 7) lost to J. Saranya (TN - 7.5), C.H. Sahajsri (AP - 7) drew with Chandana Reddy (AP - 6.5), Agnihotri Ghosh (ACC - 6.5) drew with Soumya Shrivastava (Mah - 6.5), Apoorva Dhakras (Mah - 7) bt Sampada Barve (Goa - 6), Y.
