YSR confirms second round talks with Maoists
HYDERABAD,
DEC. 30.
The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, today dispelled doubts about the second round of talks by the Government with Maoists and Janashakti naxalites by confirming that it would be held.
Speaking to reporters here, Dr. Reddy said the talks would continue to convince the extremists to change their attitude and join the political mainstream.
The naxalite problem had reached a certain stage with the Government initiating talks.
The Chief Minister maintained that the Government would continue to make efforts for talks while maintaining law and order.
It could not be silent to their extortions, occupation of land, destruction of forest and a landmine triggered by extremists in Visakhapatnam district, injuring four police constables.
