CHENNAI, DEC. 30. World's leading goal scorer Sohail Abbas of Pakistan has confirmed participation for the ESPN-STAR Sports Premier Hockey League, which is set to begin in Hyderabad from January 13. Sohail will undoubtedly be the star attraction during the maiden PHL league, according to Mr. K. Jothikumaran, Secretary, Indian Hockey Federation. In fact, when the Pakistan Hockey Federation announced a list of eight players released for the PHL, Sohail's name was missing. But the information today from the IHF is that Sohail is certain to be there. It must also be mentioned that Sohail has announced his retirement from competitive hockey at the end of the Champions Trophy in Lahore. Wasim Muhammad is also cleared by the PHF to take part. Around 18 to 20 players from abroad are expected to take part in the inaugural PHL. Malaysian captain Kuhen Shanmuganathan and defender Nor Azlan Baker will also be among the foreign players for the PHL, according to Jothikumaran. Our Special Correspondent
