Alappuzha enters semifinals
KOCHI,
DEC. 30.
Alappuzha entered the semifinals of the Kerala State senior volleyball championship at the Pappan stadium, Varapuzha, on Thursday night. Alappuzha defeated Malappuram 25-21, 25-14, 25-21 in a quarterfinal match, which lasted nearly an hour.
With Muthoot team boys, who made their debut in the national league this year, playing for the district, volleyball in Alappuzha has a vibrant look now.
Bobby Augustine, Captain of the Kerala team, which won the South zone championship and one of the few left-handed attackers in the State, was once again the team's mainstay on Thursday. Captain T.V. Ratheesh and Ajithkumar did full justice to setter Vimal Jacob's smart work as Alappuzha won without much fuss. Alappuzha will meet Thiruvananthapuram in the men's semifinal.
